One of my many memories of my parents' house is of those afternoons when my sister and I would lie on the bed with my mother, opening one by one the dozens of small boxes where she kept her little treasures. Jewels accumulated over the years , each with its own story. Mostly gold pieces, which my mother guarded jealously, always saying they would be our little inheritance . I especially remember a ring , in rose gold, with a large smoky brown stone; it was the piece of jewelry we always asked for to wear to weddings and important celebrations. Once we moved out, there was no longer time to stop, lie down, and remember where those memories came from.
Life went on with its ups and downs, and I grew tired of working in jobs that offered me nothing, where I couldn't contribute anything more than what was asked of me. And then the crises hit; I went through them all: the 2008 crisis, the business continuity crisis of 2012, the closure of the company I'd dedicated almost 10 years to, my first entrepreneurial venture in 2017, the viruses, the snowstorms, the volcanic eruptions… And in between, two daughters, as intense as their mother, came into my life to turn everything upside down and set my priorities, to teach me what's truly important.
And so begins a journey in which I've been searching for myself, sometimes more successfully than others, to find myself at 40 thinking about that thing that's so fashionable now: purpose. My purpose as a woman.
Growing up in a family with strong and passionate women makes it much easier to stay on track and find your focus.
So, after accumulating drawings from my daughter for almost six years, drawings that always had the idea of immortalizing them somehow in my head (because a mother's passion makes us see art in every pore of their little bodies), I stumbled upon two colleagues who encouraged me to launch a new project : a Catalan master jeweler with a long tradition in the jewelry sector and an expert programmer from Murcia with years of experience providing services to various companies. All of this, combined with the great team of colleagues (from various parts of the Iberian Peninsula) who are responsible for showcasing the brand in its purest and clearest essence, makes Gata&Lusa Joyas a meeting place for diverse individuals who each contribute their unique expertise to this project.
Behind this woman is a team that is 100% prepared to give their best and offer the maximum to our clients.
And why Gata&Lusa ? If my mother instilled in me a love for the beauty found in jewelry, my father gave me that adventurous and curious spirit so characteristic of the Portuguese, which brings to this project a controlled passion from my more Lusitanian side. And if one part of my heart is Portuguese, the other has the soul of a cat (which, being from Madrid, couldn't be any other way). I adore, love, and venerate cats. They are elegant, calm, and careful beings who absorb the negative energies from our lives so that our homes are free of bad vibes. In 2020, I had to say goodbye to my feline companion of 14 years, and this is also, in part, a tribute to the love he gave me throughout his life. Now I have Tokio, but that's another story…
